Midmar Men’s Shed has taken a major step forward in the construction of their new facility, following years of planning and fundraising. With the screed now successfully installed, the project is progressing well towards delivering a modern, fully equipped space for its members and the wider community.
When they are not focused on their new build, the Midmar Men’s Shed actively contributes to the local community by replacing walking bridges, refurbishing raised flower beds at the school, and building picnic benches for shared spaces.
Successful funding applications to both the lottery and Aberdeenshire Council have helped the project progress. In March, East West Flooring attended the site to carry out the screed installation, a key milestone that marked real progress towards completing the building. Speaking with Gordon, the Chairman, it was clear how much dedication and effort had gone into reaching this point.
East West Flooring used Cemfloor screed throughout the building, providing a high-quality, level finish across the entire space. Our team carefully checked and levelled the floor to ensure a consistent, premium finish.
Thanks to Cemfloor’s quick-drying properties, the members were able to access the shed for foot traffic just two days later, keeping the project on schedule. The screed is especially suitable for projects incorporating underfloor heating, as it fully encapsulates the system and improves heat transfer and efficiency. Its advanced formulation also reduces drying times compared to traditional screeds, allowing the next stages of flooring to begin sooner.
The successful completion of the screed installation represents a major step forward for the Midmar Men’s Shed project. With a high-quality, durable floor now in place, the building is ready for the next phase of development. Once complete, the new facility will provide a modern, functional space for members, supporting their well-being while enabling continued contributions to the local community.
